There is a new mantra - might is right. We have seen over the last few days how the political and international kaleidoscope has been - shaken by the what Trump has done in Venezuela - over the weekend. What can we expect from other dictatorship like: China, Russia, North Korea and Iran? They will all feel ennobled by his extraordinary actions and as a consequence the world is now - less safe. Complying with the rules of international law - is as dead as the proverbial Dodo. Wringing ones hands isn’t going to make a blind - bit of difference to these people.
In general terms this action by Trump, falls under the Monroe Doctrine, coined by the then president James Monroe in 1823. Essentially it means - the Western Hemisphere (North and South America) is exclusively for America to determine the policy and no other countries. This is - putting the clock back over two hundred years. What a bloody mess.
