Today the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, has announced a number of measures that she hopes will either stop the illegal migration of migrants across the English Channel or greatly reduce the - pull factors. It seems to me at least she is doing her level best to discourage the illegal traffic. Asylum seekers will be returned to their own countries when their country is deemed safe to do so. They will have to wait for 20 years before they can - apply for permanent residence. However they will be deported quickly if their application is rejected. There are a number of other plans to stop the pull factors to be announced. Will this do the trick? Unless there is a dramatic change in the number of illegal migrations - Labour will be kicked out of government and Reform will form the new government.
