This 6 part series on BBC iPlayer is introduced by the veteran naturalist Sir David Attenborough and is well worth watching. He traces the lives of various animals in the wild, including lions, wild dogs, hyenas and leopards. Each group has their various life challenges and vicissitudes, which at times threatens their very survival. It’s not easy being a wild animal in an inhospitable environment. Either too much rain or not enough or too hot under a blistering sun at 50c. Understanding this context helps us empathise with these wild animals in Africa.
