We have just over a week before the budget on 26 November and the survival of Rachel Reeves, the chancellor. It’s a - make or break occasion for her. If it lands successfully and the bond markets give it a - thumbs up - she will survive for a few more months. If on the other hand they are not convinced by the numbers and the - tax and spend proposals - then she is done for. At the moment she is providing cover for the prime minister, but should the markets not like the wish list - then Keir Starmer, is vulnerable to being bungled out of office. This is a parlous time for both of them and they have just a week to convince the City of London and bond markets. Personally I think it’s too late and they will both be gone by the end of the year. I think Wes Streeting will be prime minister and Yvette Cooper will be the next chancellor.
