There is a very good interview with Boris Johnson, on Spectator TV. He is there with Katy Balls, the political editor and on balance gives a good account of himself. He has just had his memoir published to great fanfare. He is obviously a - great showman and enjoys the political limelight, but nevertheless he is trying to be candid, in so far - he is able not to be - the snake oil salesman. He explained Brexit and was thoughtful about the Covid pandemic and his dealings with it. His main concern was there was not sufficient attention to the - cost benefit analysis on a longitudinal basis. The impact on school age children, the hospitality businesses, the impact on elderly people who were dying and not able to say goodbye to their loved ones, care homes and morale on staff and a host of other effects. He now enjoys the - global stage and being the centre of it. His persona has a duplicity quality - as Jewish people say - chutzpah - nerve, gall, audacity, conspicuous boldness and over confidence. That’s Boris Johnson, for you. He is someone who would pat you on the back and at the same time - have his hands in your wallet.
