The green light has been given to the Assisted Dying bill. It will now go back stage to committee, where evidence will be considered, before it returns to the House of Commons in about 5 months time. It will then go to the House of Lords, for their comments and any further changes. In about October it will have the third reading, where any last minute changes will happen. It has to conclude all its deliberations by November as the King’s Speech will happen early in November and all legislation has to be concluded otherwise it falls. There will then be a date for its implementation, something like a year - so all the necessary arrangements can be made. So we are looking at September 2026 as the start date.
