Is Civil War a possubility in the US?

 In The Times today there is a disturbing article by Lord Daniel Finklestein, about the worrying signs of the possibility of Civil War in America. He considers the academic work of professor Barbara F Walter, one of the leading experts in political violence, she had published - How Civil Wars Start - the book came out in 2022. There are a number of underlining characteristics, that are necessary, but not sufficient. These are: a country that is becoming partially democratic, one that is not yet a full autocracy, but where democratic norms have been eroded. The rise of politics based on ethnic factions or racial groups and finally - where a dominant social group or ethnic group - has hitherto enjoyed uncontested power and believe that power is under threat - and moreover believe they have lost that status for ever. These political signs - must be taken very seriously - before it's too late. Remember what happened in Washington on 6 January 2021.
