A recent study by Historic England and the Department of Media, Culture and Sport, discovered an interesting association between - living close to a heritage site mental health and wellbeing. There is a positive outlook, when you can visit such a place. This could includes being near a London cab shelter, Chelsea Bridge, Paul's cathedral, or Brighton Pavilion. However it doesn't have to be a site of national significance, but something you can personally relate to.This could include an old water mill that has been lovingly restored, or a village pub that has long associations to local people. These aren't necessarily grand buildings, but an important factor in the feeling of wellbeing is the - sense of continuity, belonging and security - of its been around for years and is well looked after. These are indicators that should be taken into account when devising social and cultural heritage policies.
