It's hardly creditable, but the Hong Kong Chinese, who have come to England due to the political crackdown by the government in Hong Kong, could save the Church of England. According to The Times today, they have come here via a British government sponsored scheme known as British Nationals Overseas (BNO) visa scheme. Over the last few years some 144,000 have come here because of the programme. Many of the Hong Kongkongers are also Christians, either Protestant or Catholic. As a consequence many hitherto churches that only a few years ago were struggling to have a few in the congregation are not bursting at the seams. Who would believe that events on the other side of the world - saved the Church of England?
