The race is on for the deputy leadership of the Labour Party. Three MP’s have said they will be in the race and include: Dame Emily Thornberry, Lucy Powell and Bridget Phillipson, the education secretary who is 41. She grew up in council housing and went to Catholic school and is a practicing Catholic . She went to Hertford College, Oxford and read French and Modern History. She is married with two children - in her life she has demonstrated - social mobility through education and has achieved high office in the present government . Apparently she is currently the bookies favourite to win. We will know on Thursday evening at 6 pm if she is successful on the ballot of all the Labour Party MP’s.
