Fed up - with tourists.

 When I lived in a small village in Penshurst, Kent it was impossible to pop to the local shop - there was only one - without a gang of tourists blocking the pavement and stopping your journey. That was back in 1995 and for the next ten years it became increasingly a problem. So Im not a bit surprised that the good people of Barcelona and other southern European cities have had enough. On Sunday the local natives, sprayed water from - water pistols at the tourists. The reasons for the - backlash are manifold: the cost of property has soured as money is made from tourism, the cost of meals out have gone up and up, streets and boulevards are packed, litter and detritus is everywhere, transport is clogged up, especially the roads, Airbnb are making a fortune. We know that international tourism - is the fasted growing business in the world as more and more middle class people want to see: Rome, Venice, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam etc. They are not interested in poping over to Scunthorpe, Stockton or Barnsley, but want to see York, Edinburgh and London. So people are - fed up with tourists.
