 In The Sunday Times today there is a very good article by Matthew Syed about the underpinning causes for the scandal of - child sexual abuse of women and young girls. His hypothesis is very stark - it’s the small clan like culture of Muslim Parkistani - family that allows for this perversion. The brotherhood or baradari that encourages secrecy and loyalty above the law. Nothing must transgress this basic assumption. This template of loyalty to the brotherhood is sacred, not to the victims of the abuse. And inter-cousin marriage is the very epicentre of the omarta. In some cases abusers were assisted by members of the same community in positions of authority. When will Starmer, the home secretary Yvette Cooper, police and judiciary - wake up to this malignant incestous system? I fear because of so many new Muslim MP’s - it will take courage to take on the malignant and corrupt system. Do they have that courage?
