Dr Adrian Boyle, is a consultant in emergency medicine at Cambridge University Hospital, and is concerned about the severe increase in urgent admissions to hospitals over recent days across the country. This is particularly alarming for elderly people and those with underlying health conditions. He emphasised the importance of getting your annual flu and Covid vaccine as age appropriate measures. In addition A & E departments are under stress at the moment and this is likely to increase as we meet family and friends over the Christmas holiday period. Remember some of the things we did during the Covid pandemic - washing hands at regular intervals, using a handkerchief or tissue to blow your nose, ware a mask if necessary, keep safe distance and if travelling - make sure there is good ventilation on train or bus. Stay warm and drink hot beverages regularly. Good luck.
