The changing shape of the family.

 There is increasing evidence to suggest that men are becoming the dinosaurs of - female emancipation. A report in The Times today, indicates - ‘the number of single women going for IVF using a sperm donor has jumped from 1,400 in 2012 to 4,800 to 2022’. Why? Obviously the causes are complex but women in their thirties have established careers and more able to support themselves financially, the lack of suitable partners, education differences - more women go onto university now than hitherto. The lack of social stigma and the fact that media influences are doing it. The whole attitude to gay marriage has also changed in recent years, so having a child with a - gay partner isn’t a problem now. However there are downside risks, namely - role modelling can be confusing? The number of same sex females having children has risen from 1,300 in 2012 to 3,300 in 2022. So the shape of the family is rapidly changing and the societal mores need to catch up with this important demographic change.
