This is the new branding by Keir Starmer, as he tries to get on top of unemployment. Since the pandemic from March 2020 to the end of 2021 - we have witnessed a rocketing of unemployment and in particular - youth unemployment. It’s costing the government many millions in benefits and lost productivity. They plan to invest £240 million into the scheme. If the rot of unemployment sets in at a young age then it’s almost impossible to turn around. The CV has very large holes in it. What were they doing between the ages of 16 and……..? It doesn’t look good. So drastic action is necessary, but is it sufficient? There are many reasons for not working. This may include: low educational ability, lack of social skills, depression, ADHD, being of the spectrum of autism, living in the wrong part of the country etc. The government can only do so much, but there is also the question of - motivation. Are they keen to get off the sofa? We shall see in a few years how - Get Britain Working - again progresses?
