Over recent months the debate about abortion has changed dramatically and in particular because of changes in the US. Moreover in this country it’s the so called Generation Z that is at the forefront of this political debate. In an absorbing programme on BBC One on Wednesday evening: Young British and Anti-Abortion - we had a good examination of the underlying issues. The film maker Poppy Jay, meets many young anti-abortion activists across the country. Why this abrupt change of attitude? Much is fuelled by religious beliefs especially also from America. They have an - absolutist attitude that from the moment there is a fetus its - murder to have the abortion. The relativistic say - what if this is the result of rape or incest and the mother doesn’t want the baby? What if the pregnancy was an - unfortunate mistake and she isn’t in an emotional, social or physical condition to have the child? These societal norms must be ignored - according to the anti-abortion activist, like Eden McCourt a member of the Abortion Resistance. What a change in only a few years. Will parliament make the necessary legal changes necessary or not?
