Trump and criminality.

 On BBC Two on Wednesday evening - we had an absorbing programme Trump: The Criminal Conspiracy Case - about the depths of criminality in the Trump team - back in November 2020 - following the election. I retrospect we can see now how the - wheels almost came off the democratic process. The most contentious vote was in Georgia and it's - college votes. These would give the election to either Trump, the incumbent president or Joe Biden, the Democratic. The vote was on a knife edge. Just like now in 2024. Trump, only needed 11,800 and he was president for a second term. However these were not in the bag - so he rang the Secretary to State for Georgia Brad Raffensperger. Unbeknown to the president, he was wisely being recorded and he said on the record. "Brad, give me a break I only need 12,000 votes". This was dynamite and could blow up his chance of winning a second term. Can you imagine the extraordinary pressure this put on a Republican official? Nevertheless Brad, stood up to the emotional pressure Trump, put on him - and did what was legal and - not criminal. Watch this and -worry about the next chapter - in contemporary American political and social history.

The next historic episode is only a matter of 9 days away. It's now so close, we are again down to the wire. Will Trump, seek to bully the officials again in states like Georgia or - will be accepted - if the vote goes to Harris? Given his diabolical narcissistic personality disorder and disregard for the norms of normal behaviour - I assume he will claim a win - even if untrue. If either candidate and their supporters believe, rightly or wrongly the White House has been stolen from them - then we are in dangerous political territory. This could set in train a series of actions - that could easily spiral out of control. Could there be a civil war in America? Given all the combustible material in the political atmosphere - this is a real possibility. There are so many guns across the country, it would be a - blood bath. The insurrection on 6 January 2021 - will look like a- summer tea party in comparison.

I wouldn’t want to be in America on 6 November 2024 - when the shit hits the fan.
