75 years ago today WW2 started.

It was on the 1 September 1939 - that Hitler decided to invade Poland. The prime minister Neville Chamberlain, announced on the BBC Home service - that the ultimatum - about the necessary withdrawal of German troops was required. He explained that no troops had been withdraw and - "consequently this country is at war with Germany". So the long slog now started and would not finish until May 1945 after much - blood and iron had been spent. Looking back as - I explained to my son and daughter in law last evening was a disturbing time. I can vaguely recall a vast armarda of - German bomber aircraft in formation going up the Thames to drop their bombs on the capital. Ukraine, Palestine and other war torn countries are experiencing similar tragedies today. The great Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy, wrote War and Peace - that eloquently describes the catastrophie of war. Nothing good comes from war - lives lost, families destroyed, mutilation, savagery, humiliation, diseases, stress and strain, ADHD and land lost. Not least is the long term - psychological effects - like abandonment and separation anxiety, shell shock and other long lasting psychological issues. My own family is still dealing with WW2 and I went into psychoanalysis to try and address the problems. So 75 years goes very quickly.
