Ulta Processed Foods APF.

Over recent months there has been much controversy about UPF. A report in the British Medical Journal, published the results of a large longitudinal study by Harvard University and set out the risks. They are more subtle and less simplistic than the popular assumptions - there is no direct causal correlation between APF and early death in adults. Moreover the authors concluded: 'dietary quality was observed to have a more predominate influence on mortality outcomes than ultra - processed food consumption'. It's therefore more likely that it's connected to -  overall balanced quality of diet - than specifically correlated to eating APF. Other factors must also be considered: education, socio-economic, class, ethnicity, location, weight, alcohol and general health. In addition - oversimplification is a besetting sin of too many journalists, who have little or no understanding of statistics and there proper analysis. I'm indebted to Matthew Parris for his excellent article in the current Spectator magazine entitled - Are ultra-processed foods really so bad?
