Poor Rishi Sunak, has few troops behind his decision to call a snap election on July 4. There is mutiny in the ranks, from the cabinet downwards - you cannot win withour their sacrifice. It's a bit like the disastrous Charge of the Light Brigade - and we all know how that ended up? Clearly the prime minister, didn't trust his cabinet or other Conservative politicians, as he feared they would - leak the date of the election. Moreover in The Times today business leaders and city big wigs have come out to support the new Labour Party and in particular Keir Starmer. So our prime minister looks increasingly like a - general without any troops.
