80 years on.

Next week on the 6 June will be the 80th anniversary of the allied invasion of France. American, British and Canadian troops were galvanised to hit the beaches in Normandy. This historic war time battle was magnificently captured by a number of exceptionally brave cameramen. They included the veteran movie maker John Ford and Richard Taylor. Taylor, was the first to film events as they happened in real time. The start of the battle was to commence at 6.30 am on June 6. The horror of war and it's inevitable consequence of death and destruction was well told in a programme on Channel 4 on Saturday evening in D-Day: Secrets of the Front Line Heroes. Over 10,000 died or were injured on that fateful day.
