Live theatre.

The are considerable challenges in live theatre - I should know as I've worked as a dresser at The National Theatre, on props, as a stage manager and member of the audience. While a dresser to Frank Finlay, who was playing Iago in the - famous production of Othello in 1965 - played by Sir Lawrence Olivier, Iago couldn't find his sword in an important scene. While on props for The Royal Hunt of the Sun, again at The National Theatre with Robert Stephens. We couldn't open the petals of the sun. I remember as the stage manager on The Beggars Opera, I feel asleep at an inauspicious time and didn't signal to the technical team to withdraw a piece of scenery. Well over in Paris there has been a real dust up - over the actor Isabelle Huppert - apparently no-one could hear her and the audience was extremely angry. Many left the theatre after only a few minutes into the play, slamming their seats down as they left in disgust. The dangers of live theatre.
