It seems to me we are underestimating the political impact the Covid Inquiry, will have at the general election next year. There has been a series of revelations about the conduct of politicians and officials, that begger belief. The excoriating, misogynistic and sexiest comments about working colleagues are indefensible and outrageous. Moreover the attitude to care homes and the general disrespect for the elderly, will be come back to haunt the Conservatives next year. We all have stories of loved ones who didn't get the care they deserved at the end of life. In particula the attitude of Boris Johnson as prime minister, appears very misguided. in addition we have not examined enough the cost benefit analysis of health policies on a longitudinal basis. This total failure therefore to learn, will not help us when the next virus arrives, as it will. Another factor is the lack of comparison regarding outcomes, with other similar countries, like say Sweden or France.
