 What a terrible situation in Israel at the moment. Under attack from Hamas, with many people killed on both sides. In 1967 l volunteered for the Six Day War and worked on the Erez Kibbutz, on the Gaza strip. So I know how terrifying it can be in a war zone. So out of a clear blue sky - death and destruction can appear from no where. On the other hand, Palestinians and Hamas will have little or any support. Western countries including the US will give unconditional support to Israel - this is due to the collective guilt following the Holocaust. History hangs around our necks like an albatross, we only have to think of the Great Famine in Ireland in the 1840's to make us in England feel guilty.
