In the French presidential election the two top places went to Le Pen with 21.53% and Macron with 23.75%. Who will win on the 7 May? Hopefully it will be Macron, the prospect of Le Pen winning is too dreadful to contemplate. Macron is the outsider who has only entered politics in the last year or so. He in only 39 and a political novice. Nevertheless the French establishment have all fallen in line behind him, with the EU bureaucrats also welcoming his success. Is it good or bad news for the Brexit negotiations after the elections in Britain on the 8th June? We shall see.
