Is Labour heading for the exit?
As we now know the Labour Party did very badly at last weeks General Election. The SNP has basically killed them off north of the boarder. Can Ukip do the same to Labour south of Hadrian Wall? They did exceptionally well in many constituencies coming second to Labour across the country. The new leader who will be decided on 12 September will have a difficult job getting these UKip voters back and simultaneously appealing to soft Lib/Dems ones. I watched Liz Kendall last night on Newsnight she was very unconvincing as a candidate. Moreover there are two others in the race that can only be considered as re-treads namely Andy Burnham and Yvette Cooper. The front runner in my opinion (for what its worth) is Chuka Umunna the black MP for Streatham. Another interesting factor is that the Lib/Dems are also looking for a new leader. The only party that has a clear leader is the Conservatives in call me Dave Cameron, and they are in power for at least another five years. Whoever takes the crown in September has many problems and issues to deal with, before getting back into Downing Street. I can foresee at least 10 more years in the wilderness and by then they may be dead as a political force. I think they may be heading for the exit.
