MedCity.
If this a term is unfamiliar to you - it soon won't be? In The Sunday Telegraph yesterday there was an item about the way in which this country could lead the world in what is generally called - bioscience. It could of course be another story of our failure to be adventurous and entrepreneurial in something we are genuinely world leaders in. The mayor of London Boris Johnson is - putting his money where his mouth is and has decided to put money into an exciting new project that should caeteris paribus put us in an unparalleled position in this - exciting new science. The magic triangle of Oxford, Cambridge and London will act as a hub, there will be a cluster of companies. If you look at other cluster places like Silicon Valley we know what they have produced. The UK's golden triangle is probably the most important cluster of bioscience companies and research in Europe. Cambridge has of course a wonderful history when is come to this body of knowledge as does University College London. In the next few years the biggest science park in the European Union outside of Boston in the United States, will open under the inspirational leadership of the Nobel Prize winner - the President of The Royal Society Sir Paul Nurse - at a purpose built research establishment between St Pancras Station and the British Library on Euston Road the Francis Crick Centre. We have much to look forward to in this MedCity.
