I'm back.

Goodness me its been a very long time since I did my last blog on the 27 October 2013. Much has happened both personal, national and internationally. I will not attempt to catch up with all these events, but will concentre more on the day to day from now on. I hope you've all missed me, I have certainly missed doing the blog, I always find it stimulating (even if you don't).
The politics of Northern Ireland are back in the news - (did they ever go away?) Angela Merkel is in London speaking first to David Cameron, and then to both houses of parliament in Westminster Hall, next tea with the Queen at Buckingham Palace. We all know that Germany and Britain have a long and complex history, not least German royalty and two recent world wars. Lets hope that we can continue our positive relationship, but will the European project blow-up the current cosiness. I'm very positive about Germany as I worked there in 1964, so don't have negative feelings about it in any way, but I know many in this country still do.

  1. Welcome back! Looking forward further polemical commentary...you have been missed!

It is fascinating how, after such time, we do still have such a complex relationship with Germany - they, since WW2, have taken things in their stride and have moved on; have we? Have we recovered?
