The Reith Lectures 2013 - Grayson Perry.

Grayson Perry RA is a bold and some will say a rather flippant choice for the august series of Reith Lectures, starting in the autumn. In the past we have had the likes of Bertrand Russell and last year Aung San Suu Kyi. In my opinion he/she is a good person to have talk about modern art and its impact on our lives, and in particular the relationship between contemporary art and money. Because art by its very nature has an emotional influence on the viewer - images are now so all pervasive - this is an excellent time to put images under the lens. Who better than Perry to help us in this endeavour? His recent film - All in the Best Possible Taste won a BAFT award. His tapestry at the RA Summer Exhibition depicts these people in that film. I look forward to the autumn.
