The new dynamics of dating and marriage.

A report in The Times yesterday mentioned a recent survey by the University of Chicago published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science that suggested, more than a third of the couples that married in the US between 2005 and 2012 met online and the study has found them to be more satisfied and les likely to break up than people who met in traditional circumstance. About 45%  of "online couple" met through an online dating site. The more traditional places to meet in the past have been work, school, church, social gatherings, clubs etc. Apparently being able to sieve through a vast amount of data is one of the reasons given for making a successful relationship. Couples felt they had made a real choice about their partner. So the stigma of  'online dating' is fading fast as more and more people find this a very satisfactory method of meeting a potential mate. This then becomes a virtuous circle when you know a friend that has made a successful relationship. Among those who were least successful where those couples that met in bars and on blind dates.
