Is Mick past it?
The Rolling Stones tonight have their debut time on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury. Why has it taken so long for one of the greatest rock groups to make it to Somerset? Is it all that mud? I have seen the RS on a couple of occasions, and although they are without doubt very good, the hype is better. There is a mythology surrounding the - bad boys of rock. Despite the fact that we now have a - Sir Mick. It was always the contrast between them and the clean living anaemic Beatles. However my band of choice was - The Who - there was something primitive and visceral about them, and Roger Daltrey is magnetic on stage. Its difficult to think that the RS are now all OAP's and getting their bus passes. They lived only a few miles from where I grew up, and my cousin was a neighbour of Sir Mick. I hope the wait for this iconic band is worth it - down on the farm. I will see it all on TV tonight from the comfort of my sofa.
