Another cover up!

Its impossible to convey just how depressing it all is - the seemingly endless abuse of patients in the NHS. This recent disclosure about a hospital in Cumbria is even more worrying coming so close on the heels of the Mid Staffs cruelty. I worked in the health service back in the 1970's and things now seem like a different age. I was at the Middlesex Hospital in central London working in child and adult psychiatry. I had many opportunities to visit the general medical wards and talk to patients, there was non of this obvious abuse. Perhaps the NHS is now so big and unwieldy that its impossible to keep tabs on what is going on? However if we cannot trust the police in the form of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to keep an eye on things, we are buggered. They even went so far as to instigate and collude with a cover up. As I go into hospital in a few weeks time I'm deeply worried. The last time they made a cock-up and had to amputate a finger. I may be coming to the end of my blogs.
