Maths.
The Science Museum in London is in 2016 going to open a new gallery space designed by the international renowned architect Dame Zaha Hadid. It will devote this gallery in the museum to all things mathematical - which we take for granted in our daily lives whether its by purchasing products on line using our credit cards - where complex algorithms do all the work or our smartphones. Maths are the necessary lubricant to keep the international computer machine going. We saw this in its very earliest development by Alan Turing and the Enigma machine and Colossus the first giant computer at Bletchley Park in WW2. Had these brilliant mathematicians not had the brain power and creativity to make these discoveries the Second World War may have had been a very different ending.
