St Peter's XI against the Archbishop of Canterbury's St Paul's XI - in the finest game of all - cricket.

It just not possible to make this one up. The pontiff is praying for divine inspiration when his St Peter's XI take on the mighty Archbishop of Canterbury's St Paul's XI at Canterbury this week. It will take more than the almighty to get the English chaps out. Apparently the Pope is not over confident about his chances. He in right to be a pessimistic about this as the St Paul's lot do know the game well and more importantly can actually play it with inspiration - including the 'holy spirit'. So if your a gambling man (I'm not) who is your money going on? There are two other scheduled matches, one at Windsor Great Park against some army chaps the other at Twickenham. God knows why Twickenham? They say that 'the English invented cricket to give them some idea of eternity'. That's probably true as we don't now believe in anything else much in this country other than the greatest of all team and individual sports - cricket!
