Lord Rennard and John Bercow the Speaker of the House of Commons - is there a connection between these two men?

On the face of it apparently not, but look much closer and you will find two overbearing men who have little or no regard for their 'public face' in their respective roles in society. If we consider Lord Rennard the Lid/Dem peer in the Upper House he was accused, but there was not sufficient evidence - beyond reasonable doubt - of his molestation of female colleagues. This puts the party on the wrongs side of the public perception of how women will be treated by their party. This has ridden a 'coach and horse' through their policy of zero tolerance of such outlandish behaviour. This coming from the so called liberals makes a laughing stock of all their politicians. How will they be treated on the 'door steps' at next years the general election? With derision and 'rotten eggs' I hope! Nick Clegg has form on this one - he boasted that he had 'slept with over 30 women' in his younger more stupid days. What has change Nick? Nothing!
Now for the more serious issue the next chief clerk of the House of Commons - this is a most important role as its a 'quasi judicial one' - insofar that he/she has to determine whether the rules of parliament according to its bible Erskine May have been breached. This is not something that is learnt over a long August Bank Holiday weekend it necessarily takes many years to acquire. The present incumbent has occupied the role with great distinction for over 40 years but has fallen fowl of the 'jumped up Speaker Bercow. Bercow has decided that a women from the Australian Canberra government is the best person for the job. She has no knowledge of our archaine constitution and its rules and customs. She is coming to perch in the 'mother of parliament' in London. How grotesquely outrageous is this to Britain who gave birth to Australian democracy and the Rule of Law.
Thankfully this has to be agreed by the prime minister and endorsed by the Queen. I hope wiser counsel will now prevail and she doesn't get a job she is uniquely unsuitable for, or she could come to her senses are rule herself out of the job completely.
