Is Boris a serious politician or just a clown?

At long last after all the prevarication and ifs and buts Boris has 'thrown his hat' into the political ring. Is he anything more than a clown when it comes to politics? He has been the mayor of London now for a little over six years and has until May 2016 to finish his tour of duty. Many are asking - what has he achieved apart from the Boris bikes? Whenever I see him being interviewed there is always a slight smile in the corner of his mouth, is that because his is happy or taking the 'mickey' out of us all? People say he 'reaches parts of the electorate' that others cannot. He is a brand in himself, but is he a 'team player'? He likes to draw the analogy between the game of politics and the game of rugby as a team sport. I just down't see he 'passing the ball' he likes to hog it to himself. He likes the 'lime light' too much. I can see him as prime minister but not some chap on the lower rungs of the ladder. We shall see. First he must get into parliament and then what?
