A bucket of cold water over Salmond and Darling - how has it come to this?

This international phenomena of a bucket of freeing cold water being poured over the heads of its drowned participants has raised much money across the world for Motor Neuron Disease ( MND) G.W. Bush had the deluge over him yesterday. Obama has so far avoided it while playing golf somewhere in the depths of the US. However Alistair Darling of The Better Together campaign had it done to him on Friday and its Alex Salmond's of the No Campaign - on Sunday. Why do this? The MND is a terrible wasting away of the muscles of the body as messages from the brain are interrupted on their pathways. It totally immobilises the sufferer and can lead to a life that is totally disabling and it the end is fatal as breathing and other functions are impossible.
