The crisis in English cricket.
There is much talk in cricketing circles and beyond about the serious crisis in the English game of cricket. Few know of the solution they only know there is a problem. We lost the last series of the ashes in Australia with a 'white wash' and they have not recovery their mojo ever since. The captain Alistair Cook has perform well below his best not scoring double figures for many matches. I think the poor chap is 'depressed' and therefore cannot play his true game under such circumstance. I would take him out from being captain for the rest of the current series against India and give him a proper break for a few months that will allow him to recover. Its cruel to put him in this position when his is so below his natural ability. Jonathan Agnew the cricket commentator checked out the opinions of the crowd at Lords on Friday and they thought the team were now 'rudderless' as there is no one taking control now that Cook is out of action in a big way. This malaise cannot continue any longer. Its not fair on Cook or the whole team. The coaching staff must take some responsibility its not all the fault of the captain. What are they thinking about and do they have a plan going forward or is it just more of the same? The status quo is now not an option we must have changes otherwise the morass will deepen. The Marlybone Cricket Club please note.
