The changing face of Islam.

For too long and for all the wrong reasons Islam has a bad press but now the 'face of Islam' is changing fast. In The Times2 today an article spells out these changes that will surprise many readers - including me! The Mulberry School for Girls from 11 to 18 are receiving a first class education by the state not privately. Towers Hamlets is not generally a bye word associated with high achieving pupils, but that has changed. Dr Vanessa Ogden the Headteacher knows how to dispel these 'myths' and as a consequence is producing girls that can rival any you care to mention. So lets reconsider out attitudes to these mainly the second and third generation Bangladesh kids Many brought up in council flats in the East End, but this has not 'limited their horizons' on the contrary its caused them to be driven ever harder. Marriage for many is not yet on the agenda, they want and education and they are absolutely determined to get one. One student commented that as she lived opposite Liverpool Station in the City she saw all these white middle class men going into the city and she 'wanted some of what they had'. So dust off that antediluvian attitude and get with what is happening under you collective noses. The girls in Tower Hamlets and elsewhere are on the 'march'!
