German is becoming redundant in German universities.

An interesting piece of information has come out in recent weeks about the changes in the attitude of many leading German universities to their own language - they are 'switching to English' to teach some of their post graduate master degrees in subjects like engineering. The reason given is that English is the international language, many of the books, research places and conferences are in that language so its just facing up to the 'facts of life' a spokesmen said at the university of  Munich Technical University (TUM). Moreover many universities across Europe are following in German 'foot steeps' and doing the same not wishing to be left behind. Darwinism is 'speaking one language' and that is in English. In addition as many companies become globalized the international business language is again in English, so its become a 'self fulfilling prophesy'. This for English speakers is a bonus, but many other languages are falling by the wayside thus reducing the richness of our international 'intercourse'. It appears nothing can be done to stem the tide - it would be like 'pushing water up hill an impossible task. So the language of Shakespeare is spreading its wings and soaring over even more lands to herald its arrival.
