Like the seasons - football is back - probably much to the chagrin of at least half the population. I'm not sure I can again manage to feel any degree of optimism about my team Arsenal, as we have lost our best goal scorer - Robin Van Persie to out nemesis Manchester United. All this on the back of such a successful Olympic games with great sportsmanship - it makes football seem so parochial and petty - especially about money. Arsene Wenger - the manager has lost his lustre - that old talisman who was such a sage, with his urbane manner and French/English accent - is no more the giant he was. No matter - I will continue to hope in miracles and perhaps this year will put something in the cabinet!
