Cat and mouse or cow pie?

This Julian Assange - cat and mouse saga - has now taken on a surreal quality. He has applied for political asylum in Ecuador and it has been granted. So he for the time being is holed up in their embassy in London, hoping to hop on a plane and disappear. However here in London town - Mr Plod is on the case. I'm not sure how good a place Ecuador is on the vexed issue of human rights? From my point of view - I'm afraid I've lost interest in all the comings and goings of this legal Kafkaesque nightmare. There is either a - prima facie case for him to answer in Sweden for rape or attempted rape or there is not? Let us assume for the case of argument that the Swedish legal authorities are acting in good faith and their legal system is robust - what is the problem? I know his fear is that this is a ploy to get him to the US eventually, but is that true? I think he could have dealt with the situation more adroitly in the first place, and he would not be now in the situation.
