The traumatic experience the BBC is going through is a worrying time for all licence fee payers. It’s becoming too large an organisation. Finding the right balance between the news cycle and other demands isn’t easy. As an organisation it’s often on the back foot and rather defensive posture. It codifies the world as either hostile or broadly supportive. It believes the right wing press are out to get it and hopes it fails. So there is a paranoid conspiracy atmosphere around the institution. Getting the right answer is problematic for this organisation and finding the right answer - could throw out the baby with the bath water.
