Recent research by The Sunday Times has revealed that British 16 and 17 year olds are more patriotic than the public overall - but are indifferent to the monarchy. There is an interesting difference between boys and girls. Boys are on balance more positive and girls less so. What does this poll tell us about young people today? If true, then the monarchy should be concerned about the general indifference to them? Of course that could change as they enter adulthood. Nevertheless - if I was part of the royal family - I would be concerned by this data. William and Kate cannot be indifferent to this information as their son George - is due to be King, when William pops off.
