Mellisa Hamilton, just made it in time. Growing up in Belfast in the 1990’s - she hadn’t heard of the Royal Ballet School in London. Nevertheless she has by sheer had work and determination - managed to cram seven years of training into ten months. The result today is she is now the principal ballerina for the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden. Kevin O’Hara director of the Royal Ballet was full of praise for her outstanding achievement at the ripe old age of 36 - he said “her subsequent rise to the top of the profession, was especially unusual for a woman”. Just in time to make it to Covent Garden.
