On Thursday it will be five months to the day Keir Starmer, became prime minister. He is planning a - relaunch of the government and its priorities for the country over the next few years. It’s a mark of just how bad things are - that a relaunch is necessary. I think his besetting character flaw is he is essentially a - barrister at heart. Taking on one case after another. That luxury isn’t possible when multiple things happen - simultaneously and not sequentially. He isn’t adroit and quick on his feet, but rather flat-fotted and prevaricating. Unless he can get a grip - this could be a one term Labour government. He is more like Teresa May, than any previous male politician - rigid and lacking imagination. He is just too much a lawyer and believes in the - rule of law to run the government. That is incompatible with fast moving events. Time to - turn the page and get on the front foot - as the political clock is ticking - time and tide wait for no man.
