This rape case in Avignon, France against the accused Dominique Pelicot, and 50 other - ordinary men in the famous city - has concluded. Gisèle Pelicot, the grandmother at the centre of the case has been the very definition of bravery and courage. All the men have been found guilty and sentenced - ranging from 20 years for the - ring leader Dominique Pelicot, to others for only a matter of a few years. Apparently the maximum sentence for this particular crime in France is 20 years. What does this case say about - contemporary France and its mores? Today there are across the world a - systematic degradation of women by misogynistic, patriarchal men. Will this change anything in France or further afield? I’m not sure and doubt it.
