According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to June 2023 there were net 906,000 immigrants to the UK. Net is the number coming in less the number leaving. Coming into the country it was 1.3 million and leaving it was 414,000. Thus a net total is 906,000. What happened about the idea of - taking back control - from the 2016 referendum? This doesn’t take into account the people crossing the English Channel illegally. The cost to the taxpayer of accommodating these in hotels etc shot up to about £5 billion. In the recent election in America a number one priority was - illegal immigration from Mexico and Canada. The other two were - cost of living and the mental capacity of Joe Biden. As I’ve mentioned before we are seeing across the EU increasing anxiety about the flow of migration into Europe. The EU Commission don’t care as they are bureaucrats and not elected representatives of the people. This stark failure to take seriously the consequences of migration - will be the undoing of the EU - in the long term. It’s a very hot potato.
