On Spectator tv on Thursday evening Sir Trevor Phillips, was the guest and was interviewed by Cindy Yu, assistant editor of the Spectator magazine. He was commenting on a recent report about the racial differences in educational achievements by different ethnic groups, Why do Chinese and Indian children out perform, their student chums at school? There is a political fear by both parties to - drill down and find out why is this the case? What is the cause of this differential? If we know we can help those ethnic groups that a slipping behind. If we consider white middle class and upper middle class children, the parents are very ambitious for their children to do well academically. That’s why we sent our two children to private schools. One became head boy and the other deputy head girl. I was deputy head boy. The ends therefore justify the means. Education social policy must get to grip with this salient issue, before it’s too late.
