The last night of the Proms.

Sponsored by the BBC Music department the Proms - are generally considered the largest and most comprehensive annual music festival in the world. I first went way back in September 1964, with friends. We had spent the week before in Stratford upon Avon watching the - War of the Roses history cycle, directed by Sir Peter Hall - from Richard III - the two parts of Henry IV and Henry V. We were therefore in the mood for good classical music - so I was a Promenade for the first time. It's impossible to convey the pure joy and fun and exuberance of the last night of the Proms. It's electric and joyful all rolled up into Rule Britannia and the hymn Jerusalem as the finale. Enjoy.
